The Food and Drug Administration has made a remarkable achievement in approving the use ofcontinuous glucose monitors for diabetes closer to artificial pancreas. This will help the parents and children who are insulin-dependent patients. It has been worked on by Helen and Wes Maciorowski. Glucose maintains the control of blood, thereby avoiding complications. The use of continuous glucose monitors helps in reading glucose levels with the help of a small sensor inserted under the skin telling the patient about the up and down levels of glucose according to which user can adjust diet, exercise and medication. These sensors are combined with insulin pumps supplying essential hormone added to it a loop system also called artificial pancreas providing controlled glucose levels in right amount and in right time. Thus, the device will help in reducing the blood sugar levels and minimizes complications. The system proves to be a costlier one, hardly matters for a peaceful sleep. The original cost of device ranges to cost. $2790, sensor’s monthly cost $350 plus $14 for adhesives for transmitter and for upgrading $1000 is required.
