Coffee contains rich amount of minerals and antioxidants. The researchers at the University of Minnesota have concluded a recent study that revealed that regular or decaffeinated Coffee might reduce the risk of diabetes in postmenopausal women. However, the scientists did not define about the components in coffee that protect against diabetes. Mark A. Pereira, associate professor of epidemiology at the University of Minnesota and other researchers conducted the study on about 28,000 postmenopausal women. They found that those who took six or more cups of regular or decaffeinated coffee a day had a 33 percent reduced risk of Type 2 diabetes in comparison with those who took none. Those, who took medium levels of coffee, have showed medium risk of diabetes.
