Economic boom in Asian countries like China, India and Japan has no doubt, resulted in the efflorescence of prosperity among the individuals. However, the coin has another side too, which is a bit darker. Mean to say where this economic boom has resulted in financial exuberance at the same time it has put in motion a new trend too, which most likely, according to researchers, end in an epidemic- The diabetes epidemic. In the last few decades there has been an astonishing change in Asians’ lifestyle, especially in their eating habits, working conditions, which puts them at six times higher risk of diabetes. According to experts, diabetes is much greater challenge than HIV/AIDS, especially for these developing countries. Giving voice to a similar view Dr. Shirine Boardman, a diabetes expert at Warwick Hospital in England avers: There is more diabetes than AIDS. It will take over as the main health problem of the developing world soon. The situation is quite grim, which will have to be hamshackled advisedly. The rising prevalence of diabetes in Asia demands effective strategies to combat and relieve the burden to health posed by this condition. Therefore, we will have to carve out a concrete strategy to scrape out diabetes, which like western countries is percolating into the Asian people too. It is important to know that previous studies or surveys have also warned about the inundation of diabetes, which is fast encroaching upon the Asian countries like western ones.
