Diamyd: Phase II diabetes trial proves to be effective!

Diamyd, a Swedish biotech group said that its lead drug candidate had shown statistically desired results in patients in Phase II clinical trial for preserving insulin production in them. The group has tested the drug called, Diamyd – designed to reduce the need of insulin injections and prevent the destruction of beta cells, on 70 children as well on adolescents having type I diabetes. Consequently, no adverse events and treatment found to be easy along with study outcomes which are of clinical importance for the treatment of type-1 diabetes. Chief Executive Anders Essen Moller said: Now the company is evaluating and executing its strategies to bring Diamyd to the market by ourselves and also by seeking high-value international pharmaceutical partnerships.For the effectiveness of the drug, the group has also a Phase II/III study on 160 adults with type 2 diabetes.
