Himachal gets Sugar Free Honey Project!

An eco-friendly beekeeping system has been introduced by the government of Himachal Pradesh. National Horticulture Board (NHB) provided 10 districts of the state with 5000 beekeeping boxes along with bees. Herbal plant called Stevia, a natural sweetener can be used to feed bees,thereby producing sugar free honey. Its leavescan also be availed during dry winter and rainy season. This honey mostly preferred by diabetics and weight conscious people for controlling blood sugar and high blood pressure. Himachal Organic Association (HOA) to popularize sugar free honey has deal with bee boxes manufacturing company. A bee box costs to Rs.3000 and the farmers interested in bee keeping can submit projects up to 1 million out of it, NHB to bear one-fifth and rest falls to the beekeeper.
