Pregnant women are at risk of gestational diabetes

Survey at the ‘Diabetes Centre’ at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital has found that most of the expected mothers may have a risk to develop gestational diabetes. The Diabetes Centre found about hundred women with the condition of gestational diabetes. The number of the patients was almost doubled than what it was six years ago. Pregnant women, some times, do not produce enough insulin. High blood sugar levels pass to the baby also and put the mother and the baby both at risk to develop diabetes. Due to high sugar level, baby becomes fat and problems appear in the regular delivery.
