Seattle-Sweden Organizes Childhood Diabetes Awareness Day

The first Seattle-Sweden Childhood Diabetes Awareness Day in Seattle, Washington will be held on April 1. The event is being organized by Professor ke Lernmark who works at the University of Washington and the Consulate General of Sweden in L.A. Researchers from Sweden and Seattle will stage presentations in the symposium. Diamyd Medical’s whose diabetes vaccine is currently in a Phase II trial is one of the key sponsors. The incidence rate of Type 1 diabetes in Seattle is on par with that of Sweden, which has the second-highest rate in the world of young people suffering from diabetes! The reasons behind this are unknown to researchers.
